Under the hood
What Racksville runs on, and what you need for your own copy. Last updated: 7 November 2026
Racksville uses AI
Racksville's crew is powered by artificial intelligence. It can't run without it. Most of it runs free on your own computer; a few optional extras use Claude, made by Anthropic.
Runs on your computer (required, free)
- Writing: a small open language model (Qwen, through Ollama) writes product titles, descriptions, tags and posts, and powers the Overseer you can talk to.
- Art: Stable Diffusion XL (through ComfyUI) draws the illustrations, with an upscaler for print-size files.
- Checking: a small local vision model looks over every picture for writing, watermarks and defects before anything is used.
- These run on your graphics card, which is why Racksville needs an NVIDIA card with 8 GB or more. Nothing you make is sent to an AI company.
Optional extras that use Claude
- Smarter Overseer: switch the Overseer chat to Claude, with a monthly spending cap you set.
- Joke ideas: a small daily batch of new jokes for shirts and signs, which you review before any are used.
- Browser helpers: two scheduled helpers that work in your own browser: one sets Etsy's "made with AI" answer on each new listing, one builds print-on-demand products in Printful. They need a Claude plan; without one, you do those steps by hand.
- Racksville itself was built with Claude Code.
Being honest with your buyers
Etsy requires sellers to say when a listing uses AI-generated art. Racksville answers Etsy's "How it's made" question for every listing it makes, and adds a line to the description. Each marketplace has its own rules, and keeping to them is part of the setup guide.
Full requirements
- Windows 11 PC with an NVIDIA graphics card (8 GB or more) and plenty of free disk space for the art and writing models (tens of gigabytes)
- Free accounts on the shops you use (Etsy, Printful, Gumroad, Bluesky)
- Optional: a Claude plan or an Anthropic API key for the extras above
- Optional: a free private-network app to use Racksville from your phone
